The drive winds through the picturesque Moroccan countryside, passing through Tahnnaout, Oued Ghighaya, and Asni. The landscape shifts from the bustling cityscape to the serene beauty of Berber villages perched on the slopes of the valley, with terraced fields and walnut groves adding to the charm.
Upon reaching Imlil, the gateway to Toubkal National Park, the adventure truly begins. Here, the guide and muleteer are met, and after a brief introduction and preparation, the ascent towards the Tizi Mzik pass commences. The path climbs gradually through juniper forests, offering breathtaking panoramic views over the Imlil Valley and the imposing silhouette of Mount Toubkal. At 2,479 meters, Tizi Mzik Pass rewards trekkers with a stunning vista of the rugged landscape.
The journey continues toward the Red Valley, a striking contrast of red-hued rocks against the verdant greenery, before reaching the Tamsoult Waterfalls. Plunging 100 meters, these waterfalls are the highest in the Atlas Mountains, their misty spray providing a refreshing break before continuing the trek.
After approximately five to six hours of walking, the Tamsoult Refuge (2,550m) is reached, a peaceful resting place nestled in the heart of the mountains. The night is spent here, surrounded by the crisp mountain air and the tranquil ambiance of the High Atlas.

Day 2: Tamsoult Refuge (2550m) - Aguelzim Pass (3650m) - Toubkal Refuge (3207m)

The second day of the trek is a test of endurance and determination, as altitude is significantly gained. The route ascends steadily towards the Aguelzim Pass, a high-altitude crossing at 3,650 meters. The climb is long but rewarding, with spectacular views unfolding with every step. The changing terrain, from alpine meadows to rocky paths, adds to the sense of adventure.
Reaching Aguelzim Pass is a moment of triumph, with breathtaking vistas of the Atlas range and a glimpse of Mount Toubkal’s summit in the distance. The descent towards the Toubkal Refuge (3,207m) is a welcome relief, as the path winds down towards the base camp. After an exhausting but exhilarating six to seven hours of trekking, the refuge offers a warm meal and a well-earned rest, preparing for the ultimate challenge ahead.

Day 3: Toubkal Refuge (3207m) - Toubkal Summit (4167m) - Imlil (1740m) - Marrakech

The final day begins early, as the ascent to the highest peak in North Africa awaits. Equipped with headlamps, trekkers set off before dawn, climbing steadily towards the summit of Mount Toubkal (4,167m). The journey is challenging, with steep inclines and rocky terrain, but the anticipation of reaching the peak fuels the determination.
As the summit is reached, the reward is beyond words. Standing atop North Africa’s highest point, the view is mesmerizing, stretching across the Atlas Mountains and, on clear days, all the way to the Sahara Desert. The sense of accomplishment is overwhelming, making every step worth the effort.
